Garden View Hotel: London (Kensington)

My man and I stayed at the Garden View hotel for 4 nights while we travelled London. You won’t get a grand foyer or fancy decor here but it provided a perfectly comfortable stay at a reasonable rate in a fairly central location. Kensington is a really beautiful, upscale area. Also, if you book a garden view the scene outside your window is quite nice and a rare thing near downtown London!

This was our room. It includes a private bathroom which was tiny but with toilet, stand-up shower and sink/mirror, it was sufficient to our needs. There was also a small desk (to the left, out of the photo) with a mirror and plugs for getting ready which was perfect for me :). If you are from outside the UK like me (Canadian) it might surprise you that you won’t find any plugs in the bathrooms in the UK! The room comes with a kettle and teas (how English!), and there is a simple breakfast included downstairs (tea/coffee/orange juice, toast, cereal). The bathroom has a hairdryer built in and you get FREE wifi and tv.

My man standing in front of the smallest elevator I have ever seen; the two of us could barely fit in! Very cosy 😉 There are stairs you can take as well. However, this hotel was not built for people with claustrophobia; the hallways are also extremely slim. The second photo is us getting ready for a special night at the Royal Albert Hall in our hotel room.

Found the tardis!

A walk around Kensington… we were within 1-2 minutes of the Earl’s Court tube station which was great as we could quickly get anywhere in London. Also, the tardis is right outside the station so that’s awesome! You would not believe the efficiency of the London tube; I have never known anything like it. It’s brilliant! However when using the escalators, keep to the right so that people can rush past you on the left (this is something British people know but clueless foreigners like me don’t!).

Museum of Natural History!

The Garden View Hotel is within walking distance to the beautiful Museum of Natural History. It is about a 10 minute walk, and the views on the way are lovely.

I would give it overall 3/5 stars and I would stay here again.
