I’ve been sending out my latest novel “The Long Distance Diaries” (changed the name from “The LDR Diaries”) to some literary agents. I wrote my first book when I was eleven years old and have been writing and querying for 12 years. For 12 years I have only received standard rejection letters. But I received some very positive feedback from a literary agent in London who said she really enjoyed my first three chapters; that it was very funny and that I could have something great here. She offered some suggestions and said she’d like to have another look. This was so encouraging after years and years of discouraging rejections. This is the first book I’ve written that I absolutely love heart and soul, and to know that someone in the business sees its potential is so wonderful. I cannot wait to share this story with other long distance lovers.
That same evening I got a call from the love of my life; as he is in the States right now he was able to get a long distance plan. He called me at work pretending to be a customer and completely fooled me! The thick British accent and the fact he is my boyfriend should have given him away. Even when he said “It’s me” I went “Who’s me? … Oh you!” Was so amazing to hear his voice out of the blue like that. We have been calling each-other all the time, completely amazed that you can pick up this device and hear the others’ voice anytime you like. He feels so much closer over the phone, as if he could be just around the corner; he feels farther away via Skype with it’s laggy sound and imaging. Just being able to talk on the phone has been a wonderful nuance in our relationship.
Also he has officially booked his trip to see me, so it won’t be long now til I’m jumping into his arms at the airport, and soon after that I’ll be making the big move! I cannot wait to see more of my baby. He is so good to me and I just adore him. 🙂
