Review: DoubleTree by Hilton, Sheffield

On a mini stay-cation to the Peak District we stayed one night at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Sheffield, Derbyshire and were quite impressed.

It is a large hotel with a bar, restaurant, pool/sauna, gym, free parking and conference rooms.

Our double room cost us 56£ for the night. It was a spacious, clean room with a fair-sized bathroom, a desk/mirror, a long mirror, phone, lots of plugs, free wifi and a large-screen tv.

When we arrived at the front desk we were greeted with two warm cookies (they sure know the way to my heart at DoubleTree!) They were the BEST cookies ever! I was very tempted to order a box of them from the front desk.

The staff were friendly, professional and always willing to call you a prompt cab. In our room there was a lovely book set on the side table with places to go in the area. I absolutely loved these extra little touches.

The bathroom was large and clean and stocked up with all the amenities (except toothpaste). The lotions and soaps felt and smelled a hint more luxurious than the ones from the budget hotels we’d normally stay at.

It costs a little extra (I think!), but you can always help yourself to a spot of tea in your room 🙂

We soon went for a nice dip in the pool which was set to a comfortable tepid temperature (I’m a huge baby when it comes to cold water!). The pool is fairly shallow in both ends, but slightly deeper in one side. At times we had the pool all to ourselves. The hot tub was also lovely, and my other half loved the hot sauna’s with stoves burning in the corners.

We had a quick look around the gym which had a fair amount of equipment and was not at all crowded, and wanted to squeeze in a workout, but didn’t have time before we hit the town.

The main stretch of Sheffield is just a 10£ cab-ride away, and Chatsworth House is a beautiful 25 minute drive.

All in all we had a great stay at the DoubleTree in Sheffield and would highly reccommend it for it’s uncrowded spaces, helpful staff and thoughtful touches.

    1. I didn’t know there was a recipe online I will have to look that up! They taste a lot like the cookies me and mom used to make that I cannot get to turn out over here.

Our original plan was paris but with the border situation and being a bit tight for money we did derbyshire instead and it did not disappoint. So happy we did this 🙂 I can’t wait to see more of england

      1. The cookies you made with your mom are like the Doubletree’s?? Yum! Have you done anymore baking lately?

Glad you are exploring England! I think it’s a stunning country.

      2. They are a different texture but taste very similar.

I’ve attempted butter tarts for a second time, they turned out better than the first time but need some work yet… nothing so far has been a huge success :p

England is stunning, I can’t wait to see more of it!
