Pumpkin Hunting in the UK

In North America at the moment pumpkin season is in full swing: pumpkin pies, pumpkin pie candles, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin liquor, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin soups, pumpkin everything!

Fall (or autumn as is more common in the UK) is one of my favourite seasons. From the blushing trees to the smell of fires burning. And, luckily for me pumpkin mania has slowly begun to take hold here in the UK.

Let’s go on a pumpkin hunt!

1. Pumpkin Spiced Latte
For all those of you who are fans of the Pumpkin Spiced Latte, you’ll be chuffed to know that as of September 15th you can enjoy one at any UK Starbucks!

2. Mini Pumpkins
If you want to make your home festive this fall, pick up a few Munchkin Pumpkins for 90P at large Sainsbury’s stores. They also have mini edible pumpkins for £1/kg. Homemade pumpkin pies anyone?

3. Pumpkin Candles
I have been on a mission to find a great pumpkin pie scented candle. Bath & Body Shop UK has a few autumn and pumpkin-inspired candles in the range of £8.99 – £23.99 though I haven’t done the smell test yet. They also have a ton of pumpkin body products. Alternatively, you could grab a cloves and a cinnamon essential oil from Holland and Barrett and add a few drops to a non-scented or vanilla candle for a pumpkin pie-type scent (wait til the wax burns a little and add it to the melted wax).

4. Pumpkin and Sage Stuffed Pasta
I was super surprised to see Pumpkin, Ricotta and Sage Stuffed Quadratti (fancy word for noodles) at Sainsbury’s the other day for £2. I would love to try this in a lovely squash pasta sauce. What a bite of fall!

5. Pumpkin Puree
You might not find pumpkin pies in the stores but you can always make one by using real pumpkin or Libby’s Pumpkin Puree which is available at Tesco’s and Waitrose for £2 or at Real Foods for £1.69.

6. Pumpkin Picking
There are actually a fair number of Pick-Your-Own farms around the UK with pumpkin patches. Throw on a cosy sweater, some fall boots, and find your perfect pumpkin!

As for a nice fall wreath for the door and for candles, it’s looking like I’m gonna have to DIY it. I can’t believe that home decor stores aren’t taking advantage of the autumn season.

What pumpkin or autumn products have you found in the UK? Any favourites?
